Catalina was a young single mother of two children who balanced the challenges of work, parenting, and education. She attended three different community colleges before earning her Bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies with an emphasis on Human Development from California Baptist University. Her dedication to education led her to become an elementary school teacher with the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD).
Pursuing further academic achievements, she earned a Master of Arts in Educational Administration from California State University, Los Angeles. Later, she completed her Doctorate of Education (EdD) in Educational Leadership, further solidifying her commitment to the field of education.
Catalina's career spans various roles, from a teacher and instructional coach to project director and university research assistant. Throughout her journey, she demonstrated expertise in brain-based learning, cultural diversity, and effective teaching strategies, making significant contributions to both K-12 education and higher education environments.
